In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) square off for the second time. In the previous match, Sanju Samson’s team had come out on top.
Whereas, an old video of MS Dhoni has reappeared on social media as the two sides get ready to face battle once more at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The event occurred during the IPL 2019 season, giving spectators the chance to watch Dhoni in a rare “angry avatar.”
The game between the Royals and the Super Kings became quite tense. Ben Stokes of Rajasthan delivered a full toss delivery to Mitchell Santtner of Chennai in the fourth delivery of the game’s last over, and Santtner hit the ball to wide long on for a double. The full-toss appeared to be over waste-high at first, according to the line-umpire Ulhas Gandhe, who raised his arm to signify a no-ball, but the square leg umpire Bruce Oxenford overruled him.
Dhoni, the captain of CSK, was upset to see the commotion in the middle. But what followed was unexpected.
Dhoni charged onto the field to oppose the decision. He was having a lively conversation with the two umpires.
A few Rajasthan Royals players also joined the dispute.
Eventually, Dhoni was forced to return to the bench after his pleading was mocked. Before hitting Stokes for a maximum on the penultimate ball to seal the victory for his team, Santner scored a few more runs off the next delivery.
The match referee issued Dhoni a severe punishment following the game. Due to his violation of the IPL Code of Conduct, he was issued a punishment equal to 50% of his match costs. Dhoni acknowledged his Level 2 Offence.
