Delhi Capitals Women top order batter and Indian International Jemimah Rodrigues cannot be detached from her love for Music. She has been one of those cricketers who has openly discussed about her interest in Music and in the past we have seen videos of her singing, most evidently during her WBBL stint inside the team bus.
Jemimah’s interest for singing came into the fore once again as she was talking to the commentators while fielding through the on-field mic. It all took place during Delhi Capitals Women took on UP Warriorz a couple of days ago. Meg Lanning’s side were able to register a comfortable 42-run victory through an excellent performance by the DC with the bat as well as the ball.
Jemimah Rodrigues meanwhile played out a mature and composed innings of 34 off 22 balls and thoroughly supported the Batters from the other end by sticking to the pitch and not giving her wicket. She had small but crucial partnerships with Meg Lanning, Alice Capsey and Jess Jonassen to help DC Women post 211 runs on the board.
DC’s solid bowling saw them win their 2nd consecutive match and during the 2nd innings Jemimah Rodrigues gave her inputs on the pitch and also sang the DC anthem. When she was asked about the pitch Jemimah told that the ball is not coming to the bat that nicely but dew factor could lead the pitch to become batting friendly.
She also suggested that the the DY Patil track is a good for the batters to play spin more than pace. Then came the ultimate moment when a commentator asked told Jemimah that “We know you are a music fan, any music in your head?”
Jemimah Rodrigues gave a fitting response and said that “Right now the music in the crowd is in my head but Dilli reh tu roar macha is stuck in my head when we were hitting sixes and fours in the 1st innings”.
