The dream of every budding cricketer is to don the Indian jersey and represent the national team at the international stage and Virat Kohli’s dream was no different. The cricketer from Delhi earned his maiden call-up in 2008 against Sri Lanka and the rest is history.
Recalling that epic moment, Kohli said that he was at home with his mother and watching the news and suddenly his name popped up on the screen which shocked him and it took some time to sink in the feeling. He further stated that it will always remain the most “special” moment of his life.
“For me, the moment that will always be very dear to me or special is the day that I got selected in the Indian team. I was at home with my mother, watching the news, I was getting no information from anywhere and as my name flashed I had no idea what to do,” Kohli said.
The World Number One Test batsman also shared that he did not know how to react to the announcement and went “berserk.”
“I went berserk, there was no synchronization. I did not know whether to sit, stand, run or jump. I think that is one moment that I would multiply eight times any day and replay it,” added Kohli.
“You can Sledge, can have banter on the field, you say things to the opposition in wanting to beat them. But booing someone is not in the spirit of any sport, I don’t endorse it,” Kohli explained after receiving the accolade.
