Urvil Patel is one of the enterprising wicket keeper batsman hailing from the region of Baroda. The 25-year-old has played over 43 games and is looking to break through into the national team setup. He has represented the likes of Braoda in the junior and senior levels before moving to Gujarat team in the domestic circuit. He will look forward to representing Gujarat Titans, his home side, in the Indian Premier League 2023.
Early Life & Journey:
Urvil Patel was born on 17th October 1998 in a middle class family. His father was a Physical Training teacher whereas his mother was a homemaker. In one of the exclusive interviews with Sportzcraazy, he had mentioned that his father was a main motivator behind his dream to become a state level cricketer.
Urvil Patel’s father, due to financial difficulties, could not go behind the dreams that he wanted to achieve. However, he wanted his son to fulfill the dream of making it to the top level. Seeing his potential at the tender age of six, Urvil Patel’s father made Urvil to join the cricket academy. The player picked his form from there and went onto represent the likes of Baroda U14s, Baroda 16s and Baroda U19s before making his debut for the senior side.
Urvil Patel wants to emulate Virendar Sehwag and his batting style. Urvil Patel wants to instill fear in the opposition while batting. The right-handed batter made his debut against Mumbai in 2018 in Vijay Hazare Trophy whereas he made his T20 debut for Baroda against Karnataka in the same year. Over the years, he has amassed 780+ runs in his career spanning 40+ games. His best innings have come against Bihar and Services where has scored a fastest T20 half century and 96-run knock against Uttar Pradesh respectively.
Due to lack of game time, Urvil Patel moved out of Baroda and joined Gujarat for better fortunes ahead of the 2018-19 Ranji Trophy season. As of now, it is safe to say that the fortunes have turned around as he has got an Indian Premier League contract worth INR 20 lakhs to feature for Gujarat Titans in Indian Premier League 2023.

In the List A career, he has only ten games under his belt. He made his debut against Karnataka in October 2018. While chasing 266 runs from 37 deliveries, Baroda lost their way out. Urvil Patel came down late in the innings and got only 21 deliveries to play. He scored ten runs in those 21 balls. However, in a career spanning ten One Day games in domestic cricket, he has scored 104 runs at an average of 14.85 and strike rate of 73.75. Also, the player is yet to make his Ranji debut.
