The Men’s ICC T20 Rankings have witnessed a change in the top. After a lengthy reign at the top, India’s Mr.360 Suryakumar Yadav has been dethroned by Australia’s Travis Head.

Suryakumar Yadav has enjoyed a dominant position at the top of the rankings since December 2023. His consistent performances and ability to score runs at a quick pace had made him the undisputed king of T20I batting. However, his recent dip in form, coupled with the brilliance of Travis Head, has seen him lay down his crown.

Travis Head, the Australian opener, played a pivotal role in this shake-up. His impressive 76-run knock against India in the recently concluded T20 World Cup might not have secured victory for Australia, but it was enough to propel him to the No. 1 spot in the ICC T20 rankings. During the India vs Australia, Super 8 clash in T20 World Cup 2024, Head smashed 76 runs off just 43 balls. His inning was laced with 9 elegant fours and 4 towering sixes.

England’s Phil Salt, Pakistan’s Babar Azam, and Mohammad Rizwan all dropped one place each to occupy the 3rd, 4th, and 5th positions respectively.

The rankings also saw some exciting newcomers. Caribbean batsman Johnson Charles, with a significant jump of four spots, is now comfortably placed within the top 10. Similarly, Afghanistan’s aggressive opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz made a noteworthy climb of five positions and currently sits at the 11th spot.

ICC T20 Rankings – All-rounders

The ICC rankings update wasn’t limited to just the batting department. The ICC T20 Rankings for all-rounders’ also witnessed a change. Australia’s Marcus Stoinis, who previously held the top spot, was dethroned by Sri Lanka’s dynamic all-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga.

Hardik Pandya, India’s star all-rounder, has climbed one position to secure the 3rd spot in the T20I All-rounders’ Rankings. Mohammad Nabi of Afghanistan holds the second position, while Roston Chase of West Indies, with a massive jump of 17 places, has broken into the top twelve.

The ICC rankings update offers valuable insights into the current form of T20I players. This constant shuffle keeps the competition exciting and motivates players to push their boundaries.
