Ravi Shastri talks about what the Players are doing during the Lockdown

Indian Cricket team head coach Ravi Shashtri has opened up on what the Indian players are doing these days amid the Coronavirus lockdown in the country. He cited that Indian Players are getting a much-needed break as they run on a very hectic schedule, continuously touring the world.

Last month Indian players returned from the New Zealand Series. Indian Team was about to play in a home series against South Africa but the tour was canceled considering the impact of the Virus.

Shastri quoted this statement in a Sky Sports Podcast where he was talking to Michael Atherton where he said that “The amount of cricket Indian Cricket Team Has played in last 10-11 months considering the fact the journey which started in May for the world cup we were playing continuous matches and now we have got a chance to stay at home from last 10-11 days.”

He further added that “It will be also a proper rest for those players who play all three formats as adjusting different formats is not an easy task. Also when the South African series started we anticipated this as we knew this is coming as we sensed it in New Zealand and the disease was spreading on a mass level we knew that we have to face the repercussions.”

Shashtri stressed the fact that “We left New Zealand at the right time as the time we left there were 2 cases in New Zealand which have skyrocketed to 300. Also, we landed at the right time in India as the day we reached the airport it was the first day of the screening so all I can say that we landed in India in Nick of the time.

As a player you have a responsibility as most of the players are spreading awareness on their social platforms. Cricket is not in anyone’s mind as of now the priority right now is the safety and security of People.”
