Dabang Delhi vs UP Yoddha Score: 36-27
New Delhi: Naveen Kumar was once again the star for home side Dabang Delhi as they beat UP Yoddha 36-27 in the second VIVO Pro Kabaddi League match on Sunday. The 19-year-old raider picked up a Super 10 (16 points), it was the seventh time in a row Naveen achieved the amazing feat. With this win, Dabang Delhi maintained the 100% win ratio at home taking them to the top of the season 7 points table.
After the match-winning cameo against Bengaluru Bulls, last Saturday Meraj Sheykh again made it to the starting 7, Rishank Devadiga too made a comeback in this match and paired with Monu Goyat as a chief raider. The UP team started off with a bang with a 4-0 lead in early minutes, but the home team fought back with Naveen Kumar 2 points raid and levelled the points in the 9th minute of the match. With 2 minutes remaining in the half time, Naveen Kumar again rose to the occasion with a raid enforcing a first all-out of the match on UP Yoddha. The first half ended with 15-11 scoreline falling in favour of home team Dabang Delhi.
Naveen Kumar, for Delhi, and Monu Goyat, for UP, both raiders from Bhiwani (Haryana) were the top performers from the respective side, but Delhi’s defence led by Ravinder Pahal and Vishal Mane gave Dabang Delhi an edge over UP Yoddha as Delhi earned a seven points lead over UP Yoddha. Pahal picked his and the team’s first High 5 of the season proving his mettle in the match, but it was Naveen that changed the scenario of the match and also crossed the 100 points mark in season 7 becoming only the second raider after Pawan Sehrawat to achieve the amazing feat.
The tense moment came when Rishank Devadiga made a super raid in the last 4 minutes, but Naveen again ensured that there are no more hiccups. In the end, UP Yoddha lost the match by 9 points, they will have to tighten their defence to win the upcoming matches.
