Sourav  Ganguly was born on 8 July 1972. He is also known as Dada and the Bengal Tiger. He is a one-time Indian cricketer and captain of the Indian team. At present, he is the President of the Cricket Association of Bengal and the Editorial Board. Ganguly established himself as one of the leading batsmen as well as captain of the cricket team. While batting, he was especially productive through the off side, with the help of which he earned him a nickname “God of the Off Side” for stroke play square of the wicket and through the covers.

He is a member of the Indian Premier League’s Governing Council. He is responsible for all the functions of the tournament and he was recruited by Supreme Court in January 2016. He is also in Technical Committee, of Indian Premier League.

Ganguly was involved in the cricket world by his elder brother, Snehasish. Sourav Ganguly will forever be reviewed as the person who exalted India to believe they can perform in all the difficult situations, and present a new era of Indian cricket for young cricketers. In 1998 Ganguly was tagged as Sportstar Person of the Year and he also won the Arjuna Award for his marvelous performance. In 2000 Ganguly was awarded as CEAT cricketer of the year as well as CEAT Captain of the year for his excellent performance in the field. In 2004 he won the Padma Shri award, for his marvelous involvement in cricket.

He also won the Rammohan Roy award in 2004 for his dexterity as captain. Ganguly is well thought-out as the 4th preeminent skipper in the World Cup. Ganguly is the only cricketer who won four succeeding men of the match awards in ODI cricket.  He is one among the five cricketers who scored 10000 runs, 100 wickets and 100 catches in ODI cricket. He is the fastest batsman to score 9000 runs in ODI.  He played the last test match on 6th November 2008 against Australia. He played last ODI on 15th November 2007 against Pakistan. He scored 7212 runs in the test, 11363 in ODI and 15687 in FC. He played 113 test matches, 311 ODI and 254 FC in his career.
