Kemba Walker beats LeBron for the 1st time, as Celtics defeats Lakers 139-107

Boston Celtics guard Kemba Walker finally beat LeBron James and he achieved that by helping his side handover the Lakers its biggest loss in the 2019-20 regular season.

Personally, Walker snapped his career-long losing streak against LeBron James by scoring 20 points in the match. Kemba and LeBron had met each other 29 times previously. Boston Celtics put in a completely clinical performance against the Lakers as they defeated the Western Conference toppers by 139-107 points.

The match was mostly tilted in the favor of the Boston Celtics through all the quarters, but that moment of defeat for the Lakers finally came in when they finally admitted to accepting their defeat when more than half of the fourth quarter remained. Kemba Walker expressed his post-victory feeling after his side also snapped the three-game losing streak.

“I’m happy I got one at least before he goes,” Walker said with a laugh after the Celtics snapped their three-game losing streak. “Who knows how long he can play, because he’s just incredible. But you know, it’s only one. One and 28.”

Boston Celtics were very good on the floor offensively, compared to the Lakers’ offense. In the victory, Celtics had Jayson Tatum scoring 27 points, Kemba Walker adding 20 points and Enes Kanter scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds off the bench. Tatum had a good offensive outing, scoring his 27 points on just 18 shots. He was 5-for-8 on 3s and had 22 of his points in the second and third quarters. It was a game where his 27 felt like 40, playing against one of the hottest teams in the contest.

For Lakers, their big man Anthony Davis returned in this contest after almost two weeks, however, he failed to make much impact, after sitting out for the five matches due to back injury. Davis was only expected to play 28 minutes in his first game. Coach Frank Vogel said he would limit Davis to 28 minutes, but he pulled Davis when he picked up two fouls in the first four minutes. David finished with nine points and four rebounds in 23 minutes.

After the defeat, James went all praises for the Jaylen Brown as he (Brown) was called for the technical foul after he hung on the rim with one arm and taunted James after dunking over him in the second quarter.

“I ain’t going to lie, that was pretty nice, pretty awesome,” Brown said. “LeBron, he’s gotten so many other guys. Just to be out there against one of the best players to ever play the game is an honor. I always like that matchup and it gives me a little extra boost.”

James also admitted the defeat as he added that there was no shame in getting beaten.

“Why would I take it personally? It’s part of basketball,” he said. “It’s not the first time I got dunked on. It might not be the last time I get dunked on. But Jaylen’s been playing exceptionally well this year. It was a good play.”

Kemba Walker’s 28 games without a win against James was second in NBA history only to Sherman Douglas’ 0-30 head-to-head record against Michael Jordan.
