Its match number 16 of the ongoing Tata IPL 2025. In today’s encounter, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) take on the Mumbai Indians (MI) in the Indian Premier League tournament.
This match will be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, the home ground for LSG.
Currently sitting at the sixth spot on the points table, the wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant led LSG take on the mighty MI, led by the all-rounder Hardik Pandya.
Super Giants will be steeping into the game after an embarrassing loss in their previous clash. The strong and formidable side suffered a disappointing defeat to Punjab Kings at home, speaking a meme fest against Pant for his questionable captaincy.
They will aim to register their second victory of the long league, by taking on the five-time champions, MI. The Mumbai Indians started their 18th season with consecutive losses.

However, they registered a massive win over the defending champions, Kolkata Knight Riders, to kick-start their campaign on a positive track. This side currently finds themselves on the fifth place in the team standings and will hope to carry on their winning momentum forward.
So far, LSG and MI have faced each other in 6 matches in IPL. Out of these 6 games, LSG have won five matches whereas MI have come out victorious on just 1 occasion.
Lucknow Super Giants will seriously look to get back on winning ways, considering the animated chat between owner Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant from the last loss, that went viral. Experts have raised a question on the hefty price tag paid for Pant, and the lack of consistency both as a captain and as a player.

In terms of the weather and pitch, the skies are expected to remain clear during the game and the weather is expected to be slightly warm.
So far, only one match has been played at the Ekana stadium in IPL 2025. The pitch has looked a good one for batting, but it has helped the spinners in the middle phase.
In the only match that has been played at the venue so far, the chasing team won the game quite comfortably. The pitch has an even grass covering, ensuring minimal seam movement but providing some turn and bounce for the spinners.
The team that wins the toss will mostly look to bowl first, restrict the opposition and chase the total to seal the victory in their favour.
Star players from both sides that are expected to create some fireworks are Ashwani Kumar, Hardik Pandya and Suryakumar Yadav from the Mumbai Indians side, and Nicholas Pooran, Mitchell Marsh and Shardul Thakur from the Lucknow Super Giants side.
