Rishabh Pant, India’s flamboyant batter, is on the mend after a terrifying road mishap a few months ago, but will be out of action for the rest of the year. The star India wicket-keeper batter was fortunate to escape fatal injuries due to his quick thinking and ability to jump off his Mercedes while it was on fire after hitting the divider.

The accident could have gone either way, but thank God, the left-handed batter will be back shortly. Former Indian cricketers like Suresh Raina, S Sreesanth, Harbhajan Singh and Yuvraj Singh made a visit to Pant at his home on Saturday to offer him mental support as well as entertainment.

Former BCCI president and one of the coaches in Delhi Capitals’ management, Sourav Ganguly provided his thoughts on the matter and said that Pant needs time off and the 25-year-old must take his time to heal properly. On December 30, Pant was travelling from New Delhi to Roorkee when he was engaged in a car accident. After getting care for his wounds, he is now recovering.

“I am sure that the national team is missing him as well. He’s young and he has got a lot of time left in his career. He’s a special player and he must take his time to heal properly. We wish him all the best and I’ll meet him as well.”

Rishabh Pant would have been leading the Delhi Capitals for the 2nd season. Pant was announced DC Captain last year but due to his recovery time, David Warner – 1-time IPL Winner as a captain will look to deliver a first IPL title to the Capitals.

Meanwhile Dada also spoke the time he is having during the pre-season – “It’s been great to work with the boys and I am looking forward to the season starting. Net practice is good, but we want to get into match mode. And (coach) Ricky (Ponting) has been fantastic. He brings a lot of intensity during training.”
