Royal Challengers Bangalore’s English speedster Reece Topley has reportedly dislocated his right shoulder while catching during a match against the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League. Topley’s injury status will be known once the scan findings are in, according to RCB head coach Mike Hesson.
“Unfortunately, he dislocated his shoulder after landing on it after his knee sunk into the earth. The fact that the doctors were able to put it back in was fortunate enough for us, Hesson said on the RCB YouTube account following the team’s victory on Sunday.
This will be RCB’s 2nd injury setback after Josh Hazlewood’s injury a few weeks ago. Both the bowlers are extremely important for their set up and it remains to be seen who will RCB line up as their replacement.
“He is off to have a scan at the moment. We hope that the initial reports come back nicely and Reece can join us. (But) if not then we will have to see what happens, but hopefully he is alright.” – said Hesson.
Meanwhile, if the reports are true then Reece Topley could miss the entire season and join Rajat Patidar and Josh Hazlewood in the injured list. Reports have already clarified that Patidar will miss the first half of the season due to a heel injury while Hazlewood will miss 7 matches at least.
Meanwhile, RCB won their opening match against Mumbai Indians at home by 8-wickets. Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plesis laid the foundation for the victory through a 148-run stand and then Maxwell finished off an emphatic win.
