Injury Troubles for SRH Ahead of IPL 2025: Brydon Carse Out, Wiaan Mulder In

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have faced a setback before the start of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season. English fast bowler Brydon Carse has been ruled out due to injury, and South African all-rounder Wiaan Mulder has been named as his replacement.

Brydon Carse’s Injury Woes

Brydon Carse, who was bought by SRH for his base price of Rs 1 crore at the IPL 2025 auction, suffered a toe injury during the ICC Champions Trophy match against Australia on February 22nd. The injury was serious enough to rule him out of the tournament, and now it seems he won’t be able to play until the end of May, forcing him to miss the entire IPL season.

Wiaan Mulder Steps In

SRH has moved quickly to find a replacement, signing Wiaan Mulder for Rs 75 lakh. Mulder has been in good form recently, even playing in the Champions Trophy semi-final for South Africa. With South Africa’s campaign now over, he is expected to join SRH soon. This is good news for SRH, as Mulder’s all-round abilities will be valuable for the team.

SRH’s Injury Concerns

Unfortunately, Carse’s injury isn’t the only one SRH is dealing with. Their captain, Pat Cummins, has been sidelined since early January with an injury and also missed the ICC Champions Trophy. However, there is some positive news: Cummins has said he expects to be fit for the IPL 2025 season. Meanwhile, another SRH player, Nitish Kumar Reddy, was injured in January, and there hasn’t been an update on his fitness from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).

SRH’s Squad for IPL 2025

Ishan Kishan (wk), Harshal Patel, Rahul Chahar, Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa, Atharva Taide, Abhinav Manohar, Simarjeet Singh, Zeeshan Ansari, Jaydev Unadkat, Wiaan Mulder (replacing Brydon Carse), Kamindu Mendis, Sachin Baby, Aniket Verma, Eshan Malinga, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Nitish Kumar Reddy

These injuries present a challenge for SRH, but they also create opportunities for other players to step up. Mulder will be eager to make an impact, and other players will need to take on more responsibility in the absence of key players like Carse and potentially Cummins.

Despite these setbacks, SRH still has a strong squad with a good mix of experienced and young players. Fans will be hoping that Cummins and Reddy recover quickly and that Mulder can fill the gap left by Carse. It will be interesting to see how SRH manages these challenges and performs in the upcoming IPL season.
