Indian origin player who wants to play for New Zealand in Tests and CSK in IPL

Adithya-Ashok

There have been a lot of Indian origin players who have gone on to play for different countries. New Zealand also have a history of players who were originated from India.

In fact, the current New Zealand side too boasts of such players like Jeet Raval, Ish Sodhi and one more entrant who has been rising through the ranks is New Zealand under-19 leg spinner Adithya Ashok.

Adithya Ashok was just 4 years old when he moved to New Zealand with his family. Born in Vellore in Tamil Nadu, Adithya started playing the game of cricket at a very young age, thanks to his father for infecting the love for the game on him.

Adithya Ashok currently has been making waves in world cricket, producing fine spells for New Zealand in the under-19 World Cup. The New Zealand bowler bowls leg-spin, however, unlike leg-spinners, Ashok focus heavily on being consistent and discipline rather than picking wickets.

My bowling style, my mentality is all about being consistent and disciplined,” Adithya was quoted as saying in ESPN Cricinfo.

You’re always going to be hit for runs as a leggie, so I’m trying to be the kind of bowler who does not leaks runs. It’s a cliché associated with legspinners to be wicket-takers, but I’d rather stay tight.” he added

Adithya Ashok’s dream is to be a part of the New Zealand test team and also expressed his desire of playing for CSK in IPL.

You’re free to do where your passion lies. As I grow older, I would love to play Test match cricket. It’s the pinnacle of the sport, and I’m striving towards it.” he said.

Adithya has been exceptional with the ball in the ongoing under-19 World Cup. He picked 2 consecutive 3-fors in the warm-up games, besides picking 3 for 38 against Sri Lanka in what was his first bowling performance in the event.
