Historic Cooperage stadium awaits Mumbai Marines FC

Mumbai Marines FC will be playing its first ever official game at the historic Cooperage Stadium, against Bombay YMCA, as a part of its MFA Super League Campaign.

MUMBAI, October 11: With the fifth game of the season, as the Mumbai Marines FC campaign reached its halfway point, will see them take on Bombay YMCA, who have formerly been champions of the erstwhile Harwood League. This game comes after an emphatic 3-0 win against Skorost United FC in their last outing at Neville D’Souza Stadium, Bandra. 

The Cooperage Ground, has been the cradle of Mumbai and Maharashtra Football, right from hosting Rovers Cup games, to being the home for all the teams, that have represented Mumbai at the I-League and 2nd Division League, hosting Mahindra United, Mumbai FC, Air India, ONGC, and currently Kenkre. The historic stadium has also played home to Indian Arrows in the 2019-20 I-League season. 

After 5 years of being in Mumbai Football, Mumbai Marines would see the opportunity, where Cooperage will be the home stadium and hosts to its next two games, first one being against Bombay YMCA on October 19, and then FSI Sea View on October 28. The first game at Cooperage would definitely prove to be an historic ocassion for the club, where it will be looking to cease all the 3 points.

Mumbai Marines FC got back to winning ways as they beat Skorost United FC by 3-0 in their previous match of the MFA Super League. 

 Captain Jacob Jacques was all praise for his side’s magnificent performance. Here’s what he had to say, “Our performance in the previous match was top notch! The defenders especially did a very fine job. We created a lot of chances and converted those chances into three goals. As a team, we look forward to keep this momentum going by being at our best in both defence and attack.”

Yash Kamble, Abbubaker Khan and Pranit Kadam were on the scoresheet for Mumbai Marines FC as they notched their second win of the MFA Super League.

This is what Pranit Kadam had to say on Mumbai Marines FC’s performance in that 3-0 win, “This team showed that we belong in the MFA Super League. It was a very good game. We were astute in defense and clinical in the final third as we scored three goals to come out on top. Our goalkeeper Laxman Saroj had a top class game. We will try and keep this momentum for next game and rest of the season.”

Deepak Kamble, the coach of Mumbai Marines FC had this to say on his side getting back to winning ways, “The 3-0 win was crucial to make a strong statement and a stronger comeback. Going forward, we are taking each game at a time and making sure the team gives its best. Even with the points dropped in the two games before the last one, our goal remains the same. One step at a time,one game at a time.”

Mumbai Marines FC are up against Bombay YMCA in their next match of the MFA Super League. Bombay YMCA lost their previous match by a 1-0 scoreline to Sea View-FSI and are still looking for their first win of the MFA Super League. They sit bottom of Group D. 

Meanwhile Mumbai Marines FC find themselves in third place having won two of the four matches played so far. They will look to win back to back matches for the first time in the MFA Super League.
