Rinku Singh, the trump card of the IPL 2024 champions Kolkata Knight Riders and one of the gem-finds in the last few years, has been in the news lately due to the curiosity surrounding his personal life. Rumor mills are churning with the news of his secretive engagement to Samajwadi Party MP, Priya Saroj. The two apparently met at a common friend’s wedding and instantly hit it off.
While there has been no official confirmation from either of the parties, Priya’s father and a notable MLA from the same party, Tufani Saroj had earlier denied the news stating no formal engagement had been carried out. He also stated that the pictures being circulated all over the internet and social media are baseless and untrue. The talk of Priya and Rinku’s marriage has been going on for the last one year, with both hailing from the same state, Uttar Pradesh. The upcoming budding political figure and the left-hand middle order batsman known for his fire-power performances certainly make an adorable couple, with fans already cheerfully rooting for their union.
However, sometime later, Priya’s father and a noted political figure in his constituency, had confirmed to PTI that his family held meaningful talks with Singh’s father in Aligarh regarding the future alliance of their children. As per him, both sides have agreed to the matrimonial match and the impeding blessings have made way for a formalized meeting. Well, well – we may soon hear wedding bells ringing in the cricket land, as the ‘band baaja baarat’ mood will take over. After all, cricket and politics have always had an open love affair with each other. Lord Rinku, as he is endearingly called, shot to fame with the stupendous five sixes smashed on five consecutive balls against Gujarat Titans in IPL 2023.
With the 18th edition of IPL slated to begin from March, all eyes will be on the champion once again and even better, the cherry on the cake will be if the crowds get to spot Priya in the stands, showcasing her support and loyalty towards her alleged beau and the entire KKR squad.
