Despite Karan KC’s remarkable contribution with the ball, he could not save his team from losing to Ireland. Nepal lost to Ireland by 2 wickets in their latest ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier match on July 4, 2023. However, the star bowler shone for the Nepal as he marked massive 4 wickets in his 10-over spell by conceiding 58 runs.
Ireland went with the ball first after the toss fell in their favour. Batting first, Nepal scratched 268 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in their 50 overs. Gulsan Jha and Arjun Saud top scored for Nepal with their respective 57 and 48 runs.
After the batters did their job, the responsibility was on Nepal’s bowels to do some magic. KC’s bowling was particularly impressive in the 23rd over when he helped to restrict Ireland to 118 for 4. He dismissed Ireland’s opener Andt McBrine and Lorcan Tucker and then he returned later in the innings to take the wicket of top scorer Curtis Campher (62).
KC’s performance was a bright spot on an otherwise disappointing day for Nepal. The batting lineup struggled to get going, and they were eventually restricted to 268 by Ireland. However, KC’s bowling showed that Nepal have a talented bowler in their ranks, and he will be hoping to build on his performance in the upcoming matches.
In addition to his 4 wickets, KC also bowled a maiden over, which helped to keep Ireland’s run rate in check. He was also economical, giving away just 5.80 runs per over.
KC’s performance was a reminder of the talent that Nepal have in their bowling attack. They also have the likes of Sandeep Lamichhane and Kishore Mahato, who are both capable of taking wickets. If Nepal can get their batting in order, they will be a dangerous side in the World Cup Qualifier.
Nepal has played a total of 6 group matches out of which they have been able to mark victory in just 2 matches.
