There is so much happening in Indian Hockey, where they have faltered big time when it comes to assembling Top Notch performance in Men’s discipline and several questions have been raised on Indian team performance.
The performances delivered by Women’s Hockey team is sub par, and the biggest question which arises Indian team needs to win most matches in order to qualify for World Cup.
Based on latest development circulating in media, Indian team management is planning to send second string squad for FIH World Cup(WC) in August next year.
The decision have been influenced due to limited competition window between World Cup and Aichi Nagoya Asian Games which is a qualifying platform for 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
The Asiad Competition winners either in Men’s and Women’s category gets a chance to directly qualify for Olympics.
However dwelling into further reports, women’s team is most likely to play both Asiad and World Cup as they don’t have back to back competitions unlike Men’s Hockey team.
The Forthcoming World Cup will feature both the men’s and women’s competition is scheduled from August 15th 30th in Wavre(Belgium) and Amstelveen (Netherlands) Currently neither men’s and women’s team have so far qualified for World Cup.

However going by World Rankings, For Men’s Team Qualification is not problem at all, it might big thing for female players, so the latter have to stretch even further and they need to deliver in continental Championships.
“We don’t want our main players to peak at the World Cup and then struggle for form, and fitness for the Asiad. The recent FIH Pro League tour served as a testing ground to assess the performance of players and identify them as part of the core group and “A” team We have two strong bench strength and sending two strong teams won’t be an issue” said an official.
The authorities have informed that the government intends to spend approx 800 Crore to boost countries medal prospect in the Upcoming Olympics.
Indian Men’s Hockey team have reclaimed the lost glory after 1980 where they won back to back bronze medals in the year 2020 Tokyo Olympics and 2024 Paris Olympics respectively.
Indian team of late have worked on their physical and mental fitness, in order to make sure they emerge winner in distinct competitions.
The credit should be given to Hockey India along with Sports Authority of India and concern stakeholders who have worked hard behind the scenes to make policies even more robust where the best players could make mark from grassroot level to Top most level.
