Wayne Rooney Defends MLS Against Cristiano Ronaldo's Dig
Former Manchester United England striker Wayne Rooney defended (MLS) after Cristiano Ronaldo questioned quality of league.
Ronaldo, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr, said earlier this week that he would "never" play in MLS.
He claimed that the standard of the league is "not good" and that he would rather retire than play in the United States.
Rooney, who now plays for MLS side DC United, responded by saying that the league is "getting better and better".
He pointed that several high-profile European players have moved to MLS, including David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Gareth Bale.
Rooney also said that MLS is a "great league" for players who are looking to "extend their careers"
The league has seen a number of record-breaking attendances in recent years
It remains to be seen whether Ronaldo will ever change his mind about MLS.
