The Union Health Ministry has issued a new directive ahead of the IPL 2025 season.

Indian Premier League organizers have to refrain from displaying any ads related to tobacco and alcohol products.

This involves all surrogate promotions, in-stadium promotion during matches and any telecast on National Television.

No sale of tobacco and alcohol substances inside stadium premises is permitted.

The order comes ahead of the start of marque event, through letter sent by DGHS to IPL Chairman Arun Singh Dhumal.

Discouraging players to avoid surrogate advertising of any tobacco and alcohol products would spread right message to the public.

Sportspersons are the perfect brand ambassadors as any message given by them is taken seriously by people.

Whether this directive works or not, only time can ascertain as IPL begins from March 22.
