Tough Draw Awaits Indian Players at BWF World Championships 2023

PV Sindhu, HS Prannoy, and Lakshya Sen have all been drawn in tough quarters at the upcoming BWF World Championships in Copenhagen.

PV Sindhu, the two-time Olympic medalist, has received a first-round bye along with the doubles pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty.

Sindhu will face the winner of the match between Japan's Nozomi Okuhara and Thuy Linh Nguyen in the second round.

If advances, she is likely to face 7th seed Ratchanok Intanon. World No. 1 and top seed An Se Young also in Sindhu's quarter.

Prannoy, who is seeded second in the tournament, will face Kalle Koljonen of Finland in the first round.

Lakshya Sen and Kidambi Srikanth will play Georges Julien Paul of Mauritius and Kenta Nishimoto of Japan respectively in their first-round matches.

Additionally, the prominent men's doubles duo of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty has secured a first-round bye.

In mixed doubles, the Indian pair of Rohan Kapoor and N Sikki Reddy will compete against Scotland's Adam Hall and Julie MacPherson in the opening round.

The BWF World Championships 2023 will be held in Copenhagen, Denmark from August 21-27.
