Mithali Raj is a former professional Indian cricketer and captain of the women's team.
She was discovered by cricket coach Jyothi Prasad at a sports coaching camp in Secunderabad.
Mithali scored a century on her ODI debut at the age of 16 years and youngest player to do so.
She became the first woman to play in 200 ODI matches as of February 2019.
Raj holds the record for the most runs in Women's One Day International cricket, surpassing 7,000 runs.
Initially, Mithali Raj aspired to become an IAS officer before her cricket career took priority.
The only female captain to lead India in multiple ODI World Cup finals, in 2005 and 2017.
She is known for being an avid reader and often read books prior to her matches to maintain her composure.
Mithali Raj is also a trained classical dancer, having learnt Bharatanatyam for eight years.
