Saikhom Mirabai Chanu is an Indian professional weightlifter, born in 1994.

Her first breakthrough was at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, where she won the silver medal in the 48 kg weight category.

In 2017 she claimed the gold medal at the World Weightlifting Championship in the 48 kg category.

Mirabai became the first ever Indian woman to achieve a 200 Kg total in weightlifting.

In 2021, Chanu clinched the bronze medal at the 2020 Asian Weightlifting Championships, in the 86 kg snatch round.

In 2018, Chanu was felicitated with the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, India's highest honor in the sports domain.

She was awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2021, for her immense contribution to sports.

Chanu was the only Indian woman weightlifter to qualify for the 2020 Summer Olympics, by securing a position in the Absolute Rankings.

Her most notable accomplishment was winning the silver medal at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the Women's 49 kg event.
