Joe Root becomes No.1 Test batter

England batter Joe Root has regained the top spot in the ICC Test batting rankings.

Root achieved the feat after scoring a century in England's first Test against Australia,

It ended with a thrilling two-wicket loss for them at Edgbaston.

Root's century was his 28th in Test cricket, helping him move ahead of Marnus Labuschagne in the rankings.

It came off 136 balls, and it included 14 fours and a six.

Root first reached the top spot in 2016, and he regained it in 2021.

This achievement is major boost for England, in the midst of a tough Test series against Australia.
