Shubman's father's name is Lakhwinder Singh Gill, who is a farmer. His mother, Kirat Gill, is a housewife.
Gill was educated at Manav Mangal Smart School in Mohali. According to media reports, he is graduating from a private institution.
After this, at the age of 17, he was selected for the Under-19 cricket team and was also selected as the vice-captain for the Under-19 WC 2018.
In the year 2019, Gill made his international debut in ODIs. He has so far played 18 Tests, 33 ODIs and 11 T20 matches for India.
