England's Ben Stokes reverses ODI retirement ahead of World Cup

Ben Stokes has made a U-turn on his decision to retire from one-day international (ODI) cricket

This is just ahead of England's preparation to defend their 50-over men's World Cup championship in India

The England Test captain has been named in the squad for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand

Stokes had stepped away from the ODI format around 13 months ago due to concerns about a persistent left knee injury.

This physical concern resulted in him not bowling at all during final three Tests of recently concluded Ashes series against Australia.

But Stokes could now feature as a specialist batsman when England look to retain their title in India starting in October.

Stokes has played 105 ODIs since his debut against Ireland in 2011, scoring 2,924 runs, including three centuries

He has also contributed with 74 wickets and stands out as one of the team's sharpest fielders.
