Vinesh Phogat is an Indian politician and former wrestler from Haryana.
She became a member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in 2024 from Julana constituency.
She has been a multiple-gold medalist of Commonwealth Games with her wins in 2014, 2018 and 2022.
Phogat was the first Indian woman wrestler to win a gold medal at both the Commonwealth and Asian Games.
In 2018 Vinesh got married to fellow wrestler Somveer Rathee and are expecting their first child in 2025.
She has also won two bronze medals at the World Wrestling Championships.
She is a three-time Olympian, having competed in three different weight classes - 48 Kg, 50 Kg and 53 Kg.
In 2023 she protested against the BJP MP and Wrestling Federation President on charges of sexual harassment on female wrestlers.
Phogat is hailed as one of the fittest and strongest female wrestlers of modern day.
