Ashwin believes Buttler can convince Stokes to play in ODI World Cup

Ravichandran Ashwin believes England white-ball captain Jos Buttler will persuade Ben Stokes to come out of retirement for 2023 ODI World Cup.

Stokes announced his retirement from ODIs in July 2022, citing an unsustainable workload and a desire to focus on Test cricket.

However, there have been reports in recent weeks that he may be reconsidering his decision

Ashwin, teammate of Stokes at Rajasthan Royals in IPL, said he believes Buttler will be best person to convince Stokes to return.

It seems Jos Buttler's job to make Ben Stokes available for the ODI World Cup," Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.

Ashwin also said he believes Stokes would be a valuable asset to England's ODI team, even if he is not able to bowl as much as he used to.

It remains to be seen whether Stokes will indeed come out of retirement for the World Cup.
