DCA (Delhi Cricket Association) after a long wait has finally unveiled a stand in the name of Virat Kohli at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on 12th September 2019.

Virat Kohli looked overwhelmed after being honored by the DDCA with a stand to his name and shared some nostalgic moments from the past on the memorable eve.

He shared a memorable anecdote from the past that how he was running around the stadium to get the autograph of the favorite cricketers, when he came to watch the test match between India and Zimbabwe in 2001.

He stated “In 2000-2001, there was a Test vs Zimbabwe at Kotla. We were sitting across from the pavillion stand. Sehwag. Yuvi paaji. Srinath was standing at the boundary. I was asking him for an autograph. Never thought I would ever be honoured at the same stadium.”

Kohli eyes looked numb, while he thanked the DDCA president Rajat Sharma, Kapil Dev, his team and family during the inaugural ceremony held at the weight lifting hall of the Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium.

He said “I am a bit nervous seeing so many important people. I was not expecting such a grand stage to honour me. Thank You Rajat Sir and my team who is present here. All the former players of Delhi, Kapil Dev Sir, I thank you a lot. It’s weird to talk about this but I just want to thank the people who are present here – my wife and family.

DDCA President Rajat Sharma also shared an interesting story on his discussion with Arun Jaitley over naming a stand in honor of Indian skipper, he stated “When I decided to name a stand in honour of Virat Kohli, I told this first to Arun Jaitleyji. He told me this is a good decision because there is no better player than Virat in world cricket,”

The entire Indian team, Kohli family and the likes of Virender Sehwag and Ajay Jadeja were also present at the Jawahar Lal Nehru stadium.
