In the final match of the UP T20 league, played at Lucknow on Saturday, Rinku Singh’s Meerut Mavericks defeated Sameer Rizvi’s team Kanpur Superstars by 5 wickets to become champion of the league for the first time.
Rinku Singh did not play the final match of the UP T20 league as he was busy in playing Duleep Trophy 2024. In the absence of Rinku, Madhav Kaushik was handed the captaincy of the Meerut Mavericks.

Captain Madhav Kaushik, and a 19-year-old batsman Swastik Chikara, who played a bang inning were the heroes of the Meerut Mavericks victory. Madhav Kaushik scored an unbeaten 69 runs (2 fours, 4 sixes) in 43 balls and Swastik Chikara scored 62 runs (3 fours, 5 sixes) in 31 balls. Swastik Chikara is also a part of the Delhi Capitals team in the IPL.

UP T20: The Meerut Mavericks won in the last over
The Kanpur Superstar team, captained by Sameer Rizvi, had scored 190 runs. Sameer Rizvi played a brilliant knock of 57 runs in 36 balls, Shaurya Singh scored 56 runs in 23 balls and Shoaib Siddiqui played 35 runs inning.
Chasing the target, the Meerut Mavericks team achieved the desired runs in the last over (19.4). Meerut needed to score 8 runs in the last over. At this crucial moment, the captain of the Kanpur Superstar handed over the bowling to one of the most experienced left-arm pacers Mohsin Khan. However, the pair of Madhav Kaushik and Ritik easily took Meerut to victory with two balls to spare. Madhav Kaushik finished the match with sixes. Ritik was also unbeaten at 20 runs in 10 balls.
Meerut Mavericks won the title for first time
The Meerut Mavericks have won the title for the first time. They also reached the finals in the last season as well but eventually lost to Kashi Rudra’s team.
