“Sad and Childish from BCCI not to take care of him” Kapil Dev blasts on Cricket Board for not helping Former India Cricketer

"Sad and Childish from BCCI not to take care of him" Kapil Dev blasts on Cricket Board for not helping Former India Cricketer

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) stands as the wealthiest cricket board globally, contributing over 80% of the revenue through brand deals and sponsorships. This financial muscle not only boosts Indian cricket but also supports other cricket boards around the world. The influence of the BCCI is evident in the ICC calendar from 2024 to 2031, with India hosting the majority of Cricket World Cup venues.

However, a cloud has descended over the Indian cricket community with the news that former Indian cricketer Anshuman Gaikwad is battling blood cancer and undergoing treatment in Baroda. This has prompted Kapil Dev, the legendary captain of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning team, to urge former cricketers to step forward and assist Gaikwad during this challenging period.

Kapil Dev emphasized Gaikwad’s significant contributions to Indian cricket and highlighted the necessity for the BCCI to extend its support. “Gaikwad has been a terrific player for India and deserves all the support from the BCCI,” Dev stated. He reflected on the past, noting, “Back then, we didn’t have a powerful cricket board, but now we do. It is imperatively important that the current cricket board, which is financially powerful, should come forward and help him in this time of crisis.”

This call to action underscores the importance of solidarity within the cricketing community, urging the BCCI to leverage its financial strength to support one of its own. The expectation is that the BCCI, with its substantial resources, will not only continue to dominate the cricketing world but also demonstrate compassion and support for those who have contributed to the sport’s rich legacy in India.

By responding to this appeal, the BCCI can reinforce its role not just as a financial powerhouse, but as a compassionate body dedicated to the well-being of its players, past and present.
