There are several reasons behind the poor performance of West India. West Indies would need to ensure that they work on those weaknesses. Only then they’ll be able to qualify for the World Cup in the future.
- Poor batting performance was one of the main reason, that the West Indies was not able to perform well against Scotland. West Indies batsmen always crumbled under pressure. Not only against Scotland but even against the Netherlands in the Super Over they were not able to play well under pressure.
- Taking opposition lightly could be one of the reasons. That is because West Indies started off pretty well. But after the good start, they started losing a lot of matches. There is no doubt West Indies was one of the best teams in this tournament. But taking associate teams lightly has always been a mistake for many teams.
- Poor performance against Zimbabwe was certainly a big reason, that the players of West Indies lost confidence. Getting all out at a score of only 233 runs, certainly shattered the confidence of the batting unit. In the next matches, it was clear, that the player was not able to recover from that loss.
