Tamil Thalaivas made their debut in the season 5 of the Pro Kabaddi League. In both the seasons they failed to perform as per the expectations from their fans. Their campaign ended on a disastrous note that they would never want to recount. The franchise took some bold decisions during the auctions this year and purchased some good players to strengthen their team capabilities.
Many star players also couldn’t perform as per their skills and strengths and those retained would look to improve their numbers in the upcoming tournament. The franchise signed some star players like Rahul Chaudhari, Ran Singh, Mohit Chhillar and Ajeet for a handsome amount of money in addition to retaining their two best players in Ajay Thakur and Manjeet Chhilar.
This year the team will look to not disappoint their fans and make a good comeback this season, making a comparatively fresh start with a bunch of experienced players in their side. Tamil Thalaivas get to play their first match of the season on 21st of July against their south contender Telugu Titans.

- Ajay Thakur (Right in)
Position- Raider
Ajay Thakur is the most important player of Tamil Thalaivas. He is also the captain of his side. A very consistent performer, he has scored 200+ points in both the seasons for Tamil Thalaivas emerging as the only stand-out performer for his team. He would definitely be among the leaders of the raiding department for his side
- Rahul Chaudhari (Left in)
Position- Raider
Known by the nickname “Raid machine”, Rahul has been acquired by the Tamil Thalaivas for the whopping amount of Rs. 94 Lakhs. Tamil Thalaivas would be hoping that he carries his fortunes and skills to make their campaign successful. Rahul is currently the top scorer of the entire VIVO Pro Kabaddi League seasons.
- Ran Singh (Left Cover)
Position- All Rounder
He is a prolific all rounder who is not only good at defence but also a very aggressive raider when it comes to earn points for his team. Tamil Thalaivas have signed him for Rs. 55 lakhs. The franchise would surely count on his attacking game play for a successful season. He can play in any position, though he is majorly a defender and would probably be used more-so for that role.
- Manjeet Chhillar (Left Corner)
Position- All Rounder
Manjeet can play at any position in a Kabaddi match. He is a very versatile player who already has the experience of the 6 seasons of the Pro Kabaddi League. The mighty all rounder can be very dangerous to his opponents as sometimes brings a point through his raids.
- Mohit Chhillar (Right Corner)
Position- Defender
Mohit Chhillar is one of the best corner defenders in the Pro Kabaddi League. The Chennai franchise would look to get the best out of him in the defending department. With 240 tackle points in as many as 91 matches, he is considered as the corner stone for the team.
- Ajeet (Right Cover)
Position- Defender
Ajeet, who is just 24 yrs old, comes with a pack full of skills of blocking the opponents and avoiding them to score points. He is a promising defender who has a future with the squad if he performs well. Chennai based franchise has bought him for Rs. 32 lakhs and would possibly want him to develop under the abled guidance of some top players in the squad.
- Shabeer Bappu (Center)
Position- Raider
Veteran Shabeer Bappu would further add experience and steel in the Tamil Thalaivas ranks. Presence of a third raider will take off the raiding pressure from Manjeet who can then focus solely on his defending with an occasional raid or two.
