Despite gaining a small lead of one run, Australia’s second innings batting performance was poor as none of the batters were willing to spend enough time at the crease. Usman Khawaja was the only standout performer in the match, with Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith failing to convert their starts into big scores.

While Australia’s win against South Africa in the Test was marred by the failure of Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith to make an impact. Australia bowled out the Proteas for 152 in the first innings, but South Africa returned the favor by bowling out the hosts for just 218 runs.

Marco Jansen accounted for Labuschagne’s wicket as he nicked it to the slip cordon, while Steve Smith was castled by Anrich Nortje. Travis Head’s 92 led Australia’s charge, but it was a collective effort from the bowlers that helped Australia win the match by six wickets.

Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith are exceptional batters, but they have failed to make an impact in recent Tests. Their struggles with the bat have put pressure on the rest of the team, and it remains to be seen if they can recover their form and help Australia win matches.

The Ashes 2023 will be a challenging series, and Australia will need all their batters to step up and deliver if they want to emerge victorious.
