Marco Jansen showed his fighting spirit for the Washinton Freedom in the MLC 2023 Eliminator against MI New York with his quick 28-run inning. Jansen took the responsibility to guide his team to the demanding target however the young all-rounder failed to take his team to victory mark.

MI New York secured a marvellous 16-run win over Washington Freedom on Friday to clear their way to the final. Dewald Brevis top-scored for the New York with his 57-run inning whereas Trent Boult shined with the ball as he clicked stunning 4 wickets to restrict Freedoms before the target.

Jansen came to the crease with Washington Freedom in trouble at 86-6 in the 15th over. He immediately took the attack to the MI New York bowlers, a four and 3 solid sixes from 18 balls to guide his fast and furious 28-run inning. Marco Jansen almost took Washington Freedom to the total of 141 run. However, the hitter fell prey to Trent Boult again as he got him caught by David Wiese to crush all the hopes for the Freedoms.

Jansen’s innings was a reminder of his potential as a batsman. The South African all-rounder is known for his bowling, but he has shown that he can also be a valuable asset with the bat. He is a hard-hitting batsman and a skillful bowler.

If he can continue to develop his batting, he could become a very valuable asset for any team. Jansen’s innings was a highlight of the match, but it was not the only one. MI New York’s Dewald Brevis scored 57 runs off 41 balls, while Trent Boult took 4 wickets for 20 runs.

In the end, MI New York won the match by 16 runs to advance to the Qualifier. However, Jansen’s innings showed that he is a player to watch in the future.
