The flamboyant and one of the successful openers for Pakistan Majid Khan started his career as a fast bowler but his fitness issues especially his back injury forced him to take the option of off-spin. Later he went on to become one of the greatest batsmen for Pakistan. Cricket was in his blood as his father Jahangir Khan was one of the successful cricketers during his playing days but Majid Khan was more successful in academics during his childhood days.

Unlike other run machines of his generation, Majid took over the opponent bowling with flamboyant shots. He batted with lot more positive intent and often gave skyrocketing starts for his team. His strike rate remains at 123.56 in tests that speak the volumes of his batting powers. Graduated from Cambridge university majid khan was one of the pillars of Pakistan’s success in the cricketing arena during the 1970s. He is also one of the successful captains for Pakistan as he captained them on 28 occasions.
With the career spanning over 24 years, Majid Khan played only 63 tests and 23 ODI’s due to Pakistan’s limited cricketing schedule. He scored 3931 test runs for Pakistan at an average of around 39. He was also a valiant force in Pakistan’s domestic circuit where he has scored over 27,000 first-class runs with whopping 73 centuries. Unfortunately for him his international form went dipped steadily and couldn’t able to score a century after 1980. He played his last test match against Indian in 1983 at Lahore and formally announced his retirement in 1985.
