Cricket player Kushal Bhurtel is from Nepal and was born on January 22, 1997. He was included on Nepal’s team for the 2019 ACC Emerging Teams Asia Cup in Bangladesh in November.

Cricket Debut and Career

On November 14, 2019, he made his List A debut for Nepal against India in the Emerging Teams Cup. He was included in Nepal’s squad for the 2016 Under-19 Cricket World Cup prior to making his List A debut. Khushal was also included in Nepal’s team later that month for the 2019 South Asian Games men’s cricket competition. The Nepalese team took home the bronze medal after defeating the Maldives by a margin of five wickets in the third-place playoff game.

Khushal was a part of the Nepal Twenty20 International (T20I) team in April 2021 for the 2020–21 Nepal Tri-Nation Series. On April 17, 2021, he played in his first T20I match for Nepal against the Netherlands. Bhurtel scored the most runs for Nepal (62), which defeated the Netherlands by nine wickets. As the first cricketer to strike three successive half-centuries in three consecutive innings starting with his T20I debut, Bhurtel established a record. After amassing 278 runs with an average of 69.50 in his five matches, he was awarded the man of the series. Following his play in the tri-series, Bhurtel received a nomination for the ICC’s Men’s Player of the Month honor in May 2021.

Bhurtel was selected for Nepal’s One Day International (ODI) team in August 2021 for their series against Papua New Guinea in Oman as well as their team for round six of the 2019–2023 ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 competition in Oman. On September 7, 2021, Khushal played his first ODI for Nepal against Papua New Guinea.

He was included in Nepal’s T20I squad in February 2022 for the Oman-hosted ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Global Qualifier A competition. Bhurtel recorded his first century in a T20I game against the Philippines in Nepal’s second game of the round.
