Harmanpreet Kaur has been under the scanner for the last few days. Many Cricket experts like Anjum Chopra have shown their disappointment with the action of Harmanpreet Kaur. At the same time, it is also important for Harmanpreet Kaur to understand the fact that she is the captain of the India team. That means she has more responsibility than any other on her shoulders.

What actually happened?

Harmanpreet Kaur was given LBW out by the umpire. However, she didn’t look happy with the decision of the umpire. But the choice she made to express her emotions was certainly not correct. She used her bat to hit the stumps, and that really surprised the umpire and the opponents. Later on in the post-match ceremony, she expressed her disappointment towards the decision that was taken.

However, now Harmanpreet Kaur has been found guilty under article 2.8 of the ICC Code of Conduct, due to her actions. She was also fined for this action. Total 3 points demerit was recommended by the match officials, and even a one-point demerit was recommended for criticizing the official publicly.

All of this has made Kaur the first woman to be guilty of the level two breach of the ICC Code of Conduct. This is not the first time that she has been penalized. Previously she earned a demerit point during the semi-final of the ODI World Cup 2017 against Australia. That happened because she threw a helmet.

Will Harmanpreet miss the start of the Asian Games?

Yes, it has been confirmed that Harmanpreet will not be participating in the first two games of the Asian Games. Even though she has pleaded guilty to the ICC charges. But her fate has been decided now.

This shows that each and every player would need to adhere to the code of conduct of the ICC. Or else they can suffer from a fine or a ban.
