Breaking: BCCI Issues Statement on Gautam Gambhir’s Future Despite India’s Horror Shows in Red Ball Cricket

Team India is going through horrific phase in Test Cricket that could be perfectly summed up based on how they have fared pretty well.

If we decode their performance in last 10 Test Matches where they have won only 1 game and lost 8 and 1 went for pulsating draw that clearly indicates the sad state of affair in India’s red ball format.

Their performance in White ball format is exceptional where they have won back to back ICC events be it winning T20I world cup as well as Champions Trophy 2025 which makes it formidable side.

The Questions are popping up from outside sources, whether India should go for Spilt Coaching or not as Team India is currently operating on split captaincy model where Shubhman Gill is currently India’s Test Captain, Rohit Sharma is helming ODI Captaincy responsibility followed by Surya Kumar Yadav handling T20I responsibility.

The biggest speculations going around Indian Cricket ecosystem where discussion is about Split Coaching whether Gambhir should stuck with white ball coaching whereas someone else should be helm of affairs in Red ball cricket.

However BCCI, official clearly denied that there is no such discussion happening and board completely trust him and his abilities to Coach Indian team in all formats where they further dwelled that it’s Start of the series which is long series so we should patiently wait for the outcome of the series.

“It’s Premature to Take Call on his Gambhir’s future as still there are four matches left in the series to play. We still have four matches to play in England Series. Beyond that he has still trust on him” said Gambhir.

Gambhir has been on radar for his Coaching tactics in red ball cricket where India’s conquered territory in red ball cricket, have been breached by Kiwis on Indian soil, who defeated Indian team in their own backyard which was utter disappointed for Indian team as beating India in India is no mean’s feat.

It seems that Indian team management would carry with Gambhir as head coach in all three formats as they know that it is young Indian team especially after the retirement of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma so it won’t be easy for Indian team, to beat England in England.

India gave tough fight but keeping all permutations and combinations in mind, it doesn’t seem India could win series against Three Lions.

The 2nd Test match would begun in 2nd July 2025 where Bumrah would not be playing that makes Indian Bowling lineup even more weaker.

India’s tour of England in 2025 is shaping up to be one of the most challenging assignments for the young Men in Blue in the post-Kohli-Rohit era. Under the coaching regime of Gautam Gambhir, there has been much scrutiny, especially following India’s shocking red-ball loss to New Zealand on home soil — a rare feat that has shaken the core of Indian cricket.

The Kiwis breached the fortress that India had built over years, winning on Indian soil where even the strongest teams have historically crumbled. This defeat raised eyebrows over Gambhir’s red-ball tactics, particularly with a transitional squad at hand.

Despite this setback, the BCCI seems committed to continuing with Gambhir at the helm across formats. The rationale is simple: this is a young and evolving Indian side. With legends like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma no longer in the squad, it is an era of rebuilding, and consistency in leadership could prove critical.

The upcoming second Test against England, beginning on July 2nd, adds further complexity as spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is set to miss out due to injury. His absence weakens an already fragile bowling attack, and against a tactically astute England side, the odds seem stacked. Though India may fight hard, a series win appears increasingly unlikely.
