He finished as the leading wicket-taker in the 2025-26 Ranji Trophy season with 60 wickets. Across the last two Ranji Trophy campaigns, he collected 104 wickets, making him one of the most successful bowlers in domestic cricket during that period. Although his performances were strong, he was not picked for the one-off Test against Afghanistan or the Sri Lanka tour earlier in the year.
However, another opportunity arrived when Jasprit Bumrah was ruled out due to injury. The Indian selectors named Auqib Nabi as Bumrah’s replacement, giving the Jammu and Kashmir pacer his first senior national team call-up. 2. Umran Malik: The Fastest Bowler from Jammu and Kashmir
When Umran Malik arrived in the IPL, his pace immediately caught everyone’s attention. Initially, he joined Sunrisers Hyderabad as a net bowler. Soon after, he became part of the main squad. His performances during the IPL 2022 season helped him earn a place in the Indian team.
He first received a Team India call-up for the home T20I series against South Africa. Although he had to wait briefly for his debut, he finally played his first international match during India’s tour of Ireland in 2022. Later that year, he also made his ODI debut.
One of Umran Malik’s biggest achievements came against Sri Lanka, where he bowled at 155 kmph, which became the fastest delivery bowled by an Indian in international cricket. 3. Parvez Rasool: The First Player from Jammu and Kashmir to Reach Team India
Before Umran Malik and Auqib Nabi, there was Parvez Rasool. The off-spin all-rounder spent several years performing well in domestic cricket before receiving national recognition. He was among the best players for Jammu and Kashmir during multiple domestic seasons. His all-round performances helped him earn opportunities with India A, where he continued to impress.
Eventually, Parvez Rasool received his first Team India call-up during India’s tour of Zimbabwe in 2013. Although he was part of the squad, he did not get a chance to play. His international debut finally came during India’s tour of Bangladesh in 2014. In his only ODI, he picked up two wickets for 60 runs.
Despite taking wickets on debut, he did not get another ODI opportunity. Three years later, Parvez Rasool returned to the national side for the T20I series against England at home. That match turned out to be his only T20 international appearance. He scored five runs with the bat and claimed one wicket, dismissing England captain Eoin Morgan.
